SMTD Celebrates 14th Anniversary
Today, February 8th, marks a very special day…SMTD celebrates its 14th anniversary today!
“We’re Here to Get You There,” a slogan coined by Stateline Mass Transit District when the bus service debuted in 2008, has continued to keep their word 14 years later.
For $3.00 per trip for riders 17-64 years old, and $1.50 for seniors and disabled, riders have been able to travel to medical appointments, schools, libraries, grocery stores, restaurants and shopping destinations throughout the region. The service has allowed community members mobility, independence and an inexpensive, worry-free way to get around. And the cost has not gone up since SMTD’s inception in 2008.
Sharon Hecox, Executive Director of SMTD, has worked hard to bring about public awareness of the program and make the service available to anyone living in Roscoe, Rockton, South Beloit, Roscoe Township and Rockton Township. SMTD offers a unique ‘curb-to-curb’ service where buses pick up and drop off at the client’s desired destination.
SMTD extends a heart felt thank you to the local municipalities, communities and community members for their continued support. After 14 years of service, ‘SMTD is still here to get you there!’
